How Posty5 Uses Instagram

Posty5 uses Instagram in the Social Publisher feature only, so you can publish your own content to an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator) that you own or manage. This is why Posty5 asks to connect to Instagram:

• Connect an Instagram professional account
• Publish Reels, image posts, carousels, and stories to Instagram
• Add an optional comment to posts published via Posty5

Posty5 does not use Instagram to read your feed, follow accounts, send direct messages, or publish anything you did not choose to publish.

Two Ways to Connect Instagram

You can connect Instagram directly with Instagram Login, by signing in to your Instagram professional account. No Facebook Page is needed.

If your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page, you can also connect it through Facebook. Posty5 then reaches the account through the Page you connected, as described on the Facebook integration page.

Instagram only allows publishing from professional accounts. If you connect a personal account, Posty5 shows a link explaining how to switch it to a free Business or Creator account.

Permissions Posty5 Requests from Instagram

When you connect Instagram directly, Posty5 asks for these permissions and uses each one only for the purpose listed:

• instagram_business_basic: reads the connected account's ID, username, name and profile picture, so Posty5 can show which account is connected and link each published post to Instagram.
• instagram_business_content_publish: creates and publishes the Reels, image posts, carousels and stories you choose, at the time you choose.
• instagram_business_manage_comments: posts the optional comment you add to a post you published with Posty5. Posty5 does not read, hide or delete other people's comments.

Publish to Instagram

After you connect an account, you can create a post in Posty5 and publish it to Instagram together with your other connected accounts. Posty5 can:

• Choose the Instagram account to publish to
• Upload videos and images selected by the user
• Set captions and hashtags
• Publish now, or schedule the post for later on the Pro plan
• Track publishing status

Posty5 only publishes content you select, to the account you choose, when you confirm the post.

Connecting Instagram Is Optional

You do not need Instagram to use Posty5. Posty5 asks to connect Instagram only when you choose to publish to it.

• You can use every other Posty5 tool without connecting Instagram.
• You can publish to your other platforms without an Instagram account.
• The connection is only made after you approve it on Instagram.

You Stay in Control

You decide which Instagram account Posty5 can use and for how long.

• Choose which Instagram account to connect.
• Disconnect the account from Posty5 at any time from your connected accounts.
• Remove Posty5's access from your Instagram settings at any time.

How We Handle Instagram User Data

Posty5 stores the access token Instagram issues and the connected account's ID, username, name and profile picture. They are used only to publish the content you choose and to show you which account is connected.

Posty5 does not sell Instagram data, does not use it for advertising, and does not share it with anyone except the service providers needed to run Posty5.

Your use of Instagram is also governed by Instagram's own terms and privacy policy.

Deleting Your Instagram Data

When you disconnect an Instagram account in Posty5, Posty5 deletes the stored access token and the account's details straight away. Removing Posty5 from your Instagram settings stops all further access.

To ask for any other data Posty5 holds about you to be deleted, contact us and we will delete it.

How the Instagram Integration Works

3. Sign in to Instagram and review the permissions it asks for
4. Approve the connection
5. Create a post and choose Instagram as a destination

You can disconnect the account at any time, and posts already published stay on Instagram.
